This is my husband Kevin, and myself on our wedding day! We were wed in a little countryside chapel...kind of fitting for us! My oldest daughter was my maid of honor, and my son gave me away. What a testimonial to my new life!
We often take long drives through the country. Somehow it seemed fitting to get married there in this quiet peaceful place. The one promise we made to each other was that we will not allow any negatives to affect us. So if you come to our humble home, leave all negatives at the curb. We have vowed to keep our home a place of serenity, and intend to do everything possible to keep it that way. We've had enough negativity in our lives, now is the time for a new beginning.
We live in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack mountains. This is one of the sunsets I managed to catch on film.
I couldn't resist putting this one in. While traveling to Adirondack Museum, we had stopped at a rest area. Some children had been playing with this poor little turtle and had left him in the road. Kev picked him up and returned him to his home. Goes to show that not all city boys are without a heart, this guy has a big one! The pic of him feeding the deer was taken in the little town called Inlet,N.Y.
Many of you know me from my Domestic Violence work both on and offline. Now is the time to see another side of me! Notice the white I'm wearing in that wedding photo, that's because for me it is the first time, this time I married for love, not out of fear. Kevin is my rock, my staunch supporter. He has encouraged me every step of the way.
I like to have a little fun too. So many of us who have survived Domestic Violence are here online as kind of a testimonial that healing can take place. Every one of us heals at her/his own rate. (Yes Virginia, there are male victims of DV.)
If you are in a violent relationship, I urge you to get help. Most areas have Domestic Violence agencies, and there is a national hotline that you can call for help. There's no excuse for abuse! If you have a friend who is in this situation, give her emotional support, and let her know that help is out there, but don't try to make her, or his, decision. Making the decision to get help is not an easy one, I know this firsthand, but it is worth it.
I've made many friends on the internet, some of whom I have actually met. It's been so nice to be able to put names and faces together. Meeting these friends was a joy, and we had so much fun together. Sightseeing in NYC, and the famous BBQ. My buddy Mark is a great cook! He was outside in the pouring rain BBQing for the rest of us, now that's friendship! My husband didn't chase him when he smooched me! That must tell you guys something. It's so good to be trusted, and be able to smooch a friend without fear of recrimination. Mark, I have to tell you this tho...your moustache tickles!!!
Another online friend, Vicky, gave us a place to stay whenever we were in the area. Staying with her was so much more comfortable than a cold hotel room. She always makes us feel right at home. I'll admit, I was a little nervous at first. After she extended the invitation, I e-mailed her with a pic, I wasn't sure how she felt about mixed-race couples. Her enthusiastic reply was so wonderful. Thanks Vick, from the bottom of my heart. I'll have to check with these guys though, before I put their pics up here! Some people just don't want their faces all over the internet.

I am a very proud member of the Knights of Kindness! We're a group of online people who are working to make a difference in this world. I'll put a link to the homepage so you can check us out! Right now we have an ongoing campaign to bring home America's missing children. Many have been abducted and taken to other countried, hence our Ribbons of Hope campaign. You may havve seen us in a mall near you handing out ribbons and fliers with info on these children. Won't you please go to the Ribbons of Hope page, and see what this is all about? You too, may be able to make a difference. The link below the graphic will take you to a page which explains what this campaign is all about. Thanks Tina for taking the time to create this page for us.

I could go on and on about the projects of the Knights, but I'll let you discover them for yourselves. Many of us are e-zine editors, BaddTeddy included. Quite a few of us have webpages on various subjects, from medicical advice, tutorials and links,to taking care of your puter, kids links, internet safety, etc. All of us are willing to help others, so therefore we are known as the Knights of Kindness, and Dragonslayers. Dragons come in different sizes and shapes, it depends on where you're at in life.
